It crosses the Czech border at Rading (AT) and follows the Vyšší Brod Round (8) to Bad Leonfelden. Afterwards it switches to Mühlviertelcycle route (R5), then Gusental cycle route (R28) southwards on minor roads in the province of Upper Austria. From St. Georgen, you will follow the Danube cycle route (R1) upstream through the town of Linz, past the famous river bends of the “Schlögener Loop” (pictured) until you reach the 3 river town of Passau, Germany.
You can then follow the Inn (= Tauern) cycle route (R3) along the Austrian-German border, through the nature reserves “Europareservat Unterer Inn” of the Inn valley south-west of Schärding, all the way to Salzburg. From Salzburg EuroVelo 7 follows the Alpe-Adria Trail, which at the end of “Gasteiner valley” makes use of a railway tunnel to cross the Alps without difficult climbs. You leave the train at the scenic village of Mallnitz, where you can visit the information center “BIOS” of the National Park Hohe Tauern. From Mallnitz southwards you follow the Glockner (R8) cycle route partly on former railway tracks with stunning views mainly downhill until "Möllbrücke" at Sachsenburg, where you turn westwards on the Drau cycle routes (R1) through the province of Carinthia, then Lienz, a regional capital. The route leads you to the border of Italy near the town of Sillian. The Austrian section of EuroVelo 7 is signposted as "EuroVelo7" everywhere apart from the province of Upper Austria.
