The Austrian section of EuroVelo 9 crosses the Austrian-Czech border at Blansko/Brno resp. Reintal. You will enjoy cycling through the region of Weinviertel towards Vienna. The route crosses the center on the famous Ringstraße full of historic buildings. You continue to ride southwards on the „Thermenradweg“ (Spas route) through the vineyards of the thermal region, passing historic towns like Baden near Vienna, Bad Erlach with its spa along fields of pumpkins and sweetcorn crossing the hills of „Wechsel“. The styrian spas route offers – though partly quite hilly – wonderful views overlooking undulating landscapes until you reach the spa town of Bad Radkersburg.
Afterwards the EuroVelo 9 follows for a short distance the popular river „Mur“ cycle track and turns at Spielfeld south towards Maribor, the second largest town of Slovenia.
Cycle EuroVelo 9 through Lower Austria: from the border via the gentle Weinviertel and Vienna to the Alpine foothills. Wine-cellar lanes, Grüner Veltliner and historic towns accompany this delightful stage toward the Alps.
